Test: Cupcake Table Runner

I was lucky enough to be able to try out one of Sally Giblin’s lovely Rivendale Collection patterns – the ‘My Little Patty’ cupcake table runner. While the photographed sample is based in pale floral pastel colours, I decided to use vibrant fabrics as a stark contrast in the hopes to make it a bit more contemporary.

As you can see, the design used a range of techniques including hand quilting, applique, embroidery and patchwork. I enjoyed learning how to make prairie points as well as learning how to hand quilt. She suggested using DMC thread as well as masking tape to create the straight lines. The pattern was very straight forward and did not leave out any of the details.

Even though the hand quilting took quite a while, I am very very happy with not only the result but also the pattern overall. I’m even tempted to make another one!
