I have wanted to extend my crochet skills (especially the amigurumi) so I went onto a very good website to find a suitable pattern for beginners: http://freeamigurumipatterns.blogspot.com.au/. While there, I picked the Adorable Owl Amigurumi pattern and headed over to the website and started my attempt: http://curiouscrochet.blogspot.com.au/2010/08/adorable-owl-amigurumi.html. Here is are results!
As I was unsure of how to do some of the knots, I went onto Youtube to find out how to decrease (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zxV1em2670) and bind off and weave the ends into the project (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eOVSe8uhIg). While this made it a lot easier, I did have a few problems. For instance, the features were added on at the middle of working in the rounds, and when I stuffed the owl, I found that I had sewn the wings a bit too close together. Also, I am going to have to work on my tension as the top of the owl is not as tight, having the stuffing showing through the top.
Other than that, I really really like this pattern as it is really easy to complete, lots of fun and quite quick! This ended up being a birthday present which luckily the recipient loved which made the practice even more worthwhile!
